Overview
Smartfeed is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
In short: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and we do not serve ads.
Data We Collect
Smartfeed operates with minimal data collection:
- Optional Google sign-in. If you choose to sign in, we store your Google ID, name, email address, and avatar URL to sync your profile across devices.
- Hearts and bookmarks. If signed in, your liked articles are associated with your account for cross-device sync.
How We Use Your Data
- Authenticate your identity via Google sign-in
- Sync your hearts and bookmarks across devices
- Display your profile name and avatar in the app
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the features listed above.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on servers protected by industry-standard encryption. Authentication tokens are issued via Laravel Sanctum and can be revoked at any time by logging out.
We do not store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely through Google's OAuth2 flow.
Third-Party Services
- Google Sign-In — Used for optional authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Wikipedia / MediaWiki API — Used to source article content. No user data is sent to Wikipedia.
Your Rights
- You can use the app without providing any personal data
- You can log out at any time, which revokes your access token
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data through our Contact page
